Hyundai has confirmed that the Palisade will be sold in Australia and is set to arrive in showrooms before the end of the year.
While the Palisade has been on sale in the United States for quite some time, it is not uncommon for new vehicles to arrive in Australia well after they land in overseas markets. When it eventually does come Down Under, it will slot above the Hyundai Santa Fe in the brand’s line-up of SUVs.
Local buyers will be offered two different engines. The first is a 3.8-liter V6 with 286 hp and 261 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque while the second is a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel delivering 197 hp and 324 lb-ft (440 Nm). Both engines use eight-speed automatic transmissions but, interestingly, the 3.8-liter V6 comes standard with front-wheel drive, while the 2.2-liter turbo-diesel is available with all-wheel drive.
The Palisade will be sold in both seven- and eight-seater configurations and includes the automaker’s latest widescreen infotainment system with embedded navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Flagship variants will also land in dealerships with a digital instrument cluster. Other welcome features of the interior include air conditioning vents in all three rows, 16 cup holders, and a full-size spare wheel.
Hyundai has yet to announce Australian pricing for the Palisade, although it can be expected to cost between AUD$50,000 and AUD$70,000 depending on specification. Moreover, it should land with the automaker’s excellent five-year warranty.
